Best trading journal for a personal futures account

Best Trading Journal for Personal Futures Accounts (2026)

Last reviewed 2026-10-05. Competitor details come from each product’s own pages and can change.

Names, logos and trademarks of brokers, trading platforms, prop firms and other companies mentioned on this page belong to their respective owners and are used only to identify them. Fillbook is independent of them and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of them, except for the referral relationships disclosed on the Recommended page. Firm rules and fees shown are summaries for reference; always verify them with the firm.

If you trade your own money, no firm sets your limits or flags a breach, so a journal is useful in proportion to how well it helps you set your own limits and see how close you are to them. This page compares what each product’s own pages say about that. It is written by Fillbook, so read it with that in mind and check the sources yourself.

What changes when it is your own capital

Prop-firm tools are built around a firm’s published rules. A personal account has none of that: you decide the daily loss you will accept and the drawdown you will not cross. The useful questions become whether a journal lets you set those numbers, shows how much room is left, and counts what commissions and fees take.

What to look for

A daily loss limit you set yourself, shown against each day’s result.

A drawdown ceiling or capital buffer, so you can see how much of your own capital is left before the line you drew.

Commission and fee impact, so net results reflect what trading actually cost.

Automatic import or sync of fills, and review tools that connect your limits to your habits.

Checked 2026-10-05 against each product’s own pages, using page summaries rather than a full read of every page. Plans, features and wording change, so confirm anything that matters to you on the product’s site. Where a feature appears only under a prop-firm label, we did not count it for a personal account.

Notes on the table

  • Tradervue: the daily stop-loss value is drawn as a line on the daily P&L chart; we found no alerts described. Fee reports need its Gold plan.
  • Stonk Journal: a maximum daily loss rule is listed among its risk rules; we could not see how it is configured or whether it alerts.
  • TradesViz and TradeZella describe daily-loss and drawdown tracking, but under prop-firm compliance features; we could not confirm it for a personal account.
  • TraderSync: its own pages would not load for our check, so we have not confirmed anything about it. Check its site directly.

How to choose

If you mainly want to analyse results and fees, several of these do that well, and the right pick comes down to price, imports and how the reports feel. If you want a daily loss limit and a capital buffer you set yourself, shown against your logged trades, Fillbook is the one we found describing that for personal accounts at the time of writing. It warns you; it cannot place or block orders, and it measures from logged trades only, not deposits or withdrawals.
