How to Import Tradovate Trades Into Fillbook

The three supported methods

OAuth ("Connect Tradovate") is the primary, recommended path — you log in on Tradovate's own site, nothing to copy or paste. The API-key path is a fallback for accounts that already have Tradovate's API Access add-on enabled. CSV export backfills history from before you connected either way.

Method 1: OAuth ("Connect Tradovate")

From Fillbook's sync settings, "Connect Tradovate" opens Tradovate's own login and consent screen — your Tradovate username and password are entered on Tradovate's site, never Fillbook's.

1. In Fillbook, go to Import → Tradovate and click "Connect Tradovate."
2. Log in and approve the connection on Tradovate's own site. You're redirected back to Fillbook automatically.
3. Review the synced trades before confirming the import — Tradovate's fill data doesn't always expose commissions reliably, so you may be asked to set a per-symbol commission rate before the batch is committed.

Method 2: API key (accounts with Tradovate's API Access add-on)

If your Tradovate account already has the API Access add-on enabled, Fillbook's sync settings have an advanced option to connect directly with your API credentials instead of OAuth — useful if OAuth isn't available for your specific account type, but not something to set up from scratch just to avoid a login screen.

Multiple Tradovate accounts

If you trade more than one Tradovate account — your own plus a prop-firm funded account, for example — each one can be mapped to its own separate account inside Fillbook via the account mapper shown during sync, rather than merged into one combined history.

Method 3: Manual CSV export (for history before you connected)

Tradovate's own Reports section exports trade history as a CSV that Fillbook reads with automatic column mapping.

1. In Tradovate, open the Reports tab and select Trades or Fills.
2. Export as CSV.
3. In Fillbook, go to Import → CSV, choose Tradovate from the platform list (or map columns manually), and confirm.

Commissions

This is the one place Tradovate's connection genuinely needs your input: its fill data doesn't reliably expose commission amounts the way some brokers' exports do, so both the OAuth and API-key sync paths ask you to set a commission rate per symbol before committing a batch, rather than guessing or silently importing a $0 commission. Fillbook also sanity-checks an entered rate against an implausibly high per-side commission and flags it for review rather than accepting it silently.

Duplicate handling

Both the OAuth and API-key sync paths, and CSV import, key each trade by its own fill data — re-syncing or re-importing the same trades upserts rather than duplicating them. It's safe to click Sync again if you're unsure whether everything already landed.

Reconciling imported counts and P&L

After a sync or import, compare Fillbook's trade count and net P&L against Tradovate's own Reports for the same date range and account. Since commission accuracy depends on the rate you entered (see above), a P&L mismatch most often traces back to that rate rather than a missed or duplicated trade — check the rate you set against your actual statement first.

Common failures and recovery

If "Connect Tradovate" bounces back to Tradovate's own page instead of returning to Fillbook, disconnect and reconnect — OAuth connections can require re-authorization if Tradovate-side account settings change. If a sync reports zero new trades when you expected some, check that the correct Tradovate account is selected in the account mapper; a multi-account login can otherwise sync the wrong sub-account. If CSV import skips rows, check the Import Wizard's summary — a blank required field is skipped rather than guessed.
