Getting started
Getting started with Fillbook: from first import to your first review
Fillbook is a trading journal for futures traders, built around prop-firm rules and personal accounts. This is the shortest path from a new account to numbers you can act on: four steps, about as long as it takes to export a CSV.
Before you start
Every new account gets a 14-day free trial with no card required. If you only want a look first, the sample dashboard shows a populated workspace with example data and needs no signup.
Once signed in, the sidebar groups everything: Dashboard, Risk & rules, Trading plan and Journal for your day, then Trades, Calendar, Reports and the analysis pages for review. Import & sync is where your data comes in.
Step 1. Connect your data
Open Import & sync. You can connect a sync (Tradovate, the NinjaTrader and Quantower add-ons, and Google Drive file sync have been verified on real accounts) or import a CSV from any broker or platform. CSV import is always available as the fallback, and your trial includes one supported auto-sync connection.
Prop firms that run on Tradovate or NinjaTrader 8 can use the same connectors. Interactive Brokers, PropReports, ProjectX/TopstepX and the Sierra Chart add-on are marked beta in the app. Rithmic works through R | Trader Pro exports synced via Google Drive, or CSV upload.
- Open Import & sync from the sidebar.
- Pick a sync for your platform, or choose Import a CSV and upload your export.
- Check the imported trades on the Trades page. If the numbers look off, see the import guides below.
Step 2. Set your risk per symbol
Enter one risk number per symbol you trade. That single number is what lets Fillbook show an R-multiple on every trade, which most of the analysis builds on.
Step 3. Add your account and risk limits
On Risk & rules, click Add account and choose Prop firm or Personal capital. Fillbook then tracks your daily loss limit and drawdown against your logged trades. The full walk-through is in the Risk & rules guide.
Step 4. Create your first playbook
A playbook is a named setup. Link your trades to the setups they belong to and Fillbook can compare results per strategy, so you can see which setups actually work. Playbooks are a Core feature.
Then build the habit
- Dashboard: net P&L, win rate, profit factor, expectancy, equity curve and streaks, plus the Risk Guardian card.
- Calendar: a daily P&L heatmap. Click a day to see its trades.
- Reports: breakdowns by symbol, time, session and weekday.
- Journal: a short daily note on every plan. Weekly and monthly reflections are a Core feature.
- Ask Fillbook: the chat bubble in the bottom-right corner of any page answers questions about how the app works, in the language you ask in.

Yes. The sample dashboard and the sample simulator show the app with example data and need no signup.
Check the imported trades on the Trades page first, then your commission settings, since fees can come from your broker or be estimated. The NinjaTrader and Tradovate import guides cover the usual causes.
Fillbook is a journaling and analytics tool, not financial advice. Rules, limits and presets are starting points: confirm them with your firm and your own records.
